How can I register for the Owner Meeting?

How do I decide if I should attend in person?

We are asking each MDC owner to focus on sending your CEOs and senior executive leadership teams for the in-person event. All other staff are invited to watch Next Day On-Demand, as all session videos will be posted to MDC Connect the following day.

Is there a virtual attendance option?

All session videos will be posted to MDC Connect the following day, so all are invited to watch Next Day On-Demand. There is no requirement to register.

What measures is MDC taking to make sure the in-person meeting is safe for all who attend?

MDC’s #1 priority is the health and safety of our attendees, employees, and staff supporting the Summer Owner Meeting. In partnership with the Loews Chicago Downtown Hotel, MDC will adhere to all federal, state, and local authority guidance, as well as any venue or location-specific regulations.   • Masks will not be required at the hotel or during our event, but you are free to wear one, if you wish. YOU DO YOU!
  • Individual hand sanitizers will be at the registration desk and sanitizer stations throughout the hotel.
  • We intend to deliver the highest level of hygiene and safety protocol during our event to ensure our attendees, speakers, exhibitors, sponsors, and vendors can connect, learn, and return to business as usual, effectively, and safely.
When should I plan on arriving/departing?

Join us in person for the Welcome Reception at the Loews Chicago Downtown Hotel on Monday, August 5, from 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm CST. The Owner Meeting officially kicks off on Tuesday morning, August 6, at 9:00 am CST and concludes at 12:00 pm CST on Wednesday, August 7.

The optional North Star Basecamp session will take place immediately prior to the Owner Meeting at the Loews Chicago Downtown Hotel on Monday, August 5, at 11:00 am CST and concludes at 4:00 pm CST.

What can I do to prepare for the meeting?
  1. Review the project pages on MDC Connect. Note: the project pages are also linked in the agenda.
  2. Remind your staff that all session videos will be available Next Day On-Demand, to watch at their convenience.
  3. Schedule a debrief session, following the event, with those on your team that attended the meeting. You will be surprised how many more take-aways you will find this way!

Located in the Loop between Michigan Avenue and Lake Michigan, Grant Park offers over 312 acres of public park space. It includes Millennium Park, Maggie Daley Park, Buckingham Fountain, Cloud Gate, the Art Institute of Chicago, and Museum Campus. From enjoying a stroll through the park and gardens to family fun at Maggie Daley Park, concerts in the summer, and ice skating in the winter, there’s a lot to see and do in Grant Park when visiting Chicago.

How do I make hotel reservations?

Will there be transportation to/from the airport?

Cab and app-based services are available on site at the airport. The hotel does not offer a shuttle to/from the airport.

Which airport should I fly into?

Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) is roughly 26 minutes away.

Chicago Midway International Airport (ORD) is roughly 30 minutes away.

Times vary based on traffic and time of day.

Is there parking available at the hotel?

Self-parking: $59/night with in-and-out privileges (validation required) offered at AMC River East Parking.

Valet parking: Available for $78/night.

May I bring a guest?

Yes, owners can add a guest during their online registration. Your guest may accompany you to the reception events only and they must be the age of 21 or older.

May I arrive early or extend my stay?

Meeting shoulder dates are offered at a discounted rate. It is important to note, reservations made outside of the MDC room block are available on a first come first served basis, August 4, 2024 through August 9, 2024. Reach out to Megan directly if you need any assistance.

Business Casual attire is recommended for daytime program events. We recommend packing layers as indoor/outdoor temperatures and individual comfort may vary. Additional details regarding evening events and any changes in dress code will be shared in the weeks leading up to the event.

MDC’s Terms and Conditions

I voluntarily agree to accept and assume all risks associated with in-person attendance at any Members Development Company (“MDC”) meetings or events (the “Events”) or participation in programs/activities offered by MDC, including the health risks associated with the COVID-19 virus, COVID-19 variants, and any other public health risks. I recognize that attending MDC events is purely voluntary, and I have the alternate opportunity to participate by watching sessions Next Day On-Demand. I agree that MDC is not responsible for any flight or reservation cancellations due to changes in my health circumstances. I voluntarily agree to follow any and all health-related protocols imposed by MDC, the State of Illinois, and the City of Chicago.

MDC’s Terms and Conditions

I voluntarily agree to the use of any photos or video taken of me, while in attendance at any MDC meeting or event, to be used for any future promotional materials of MDC. I hereby grant MDC permission to use my likeness in a photograph, video, or other digital media in any and all of its publications, including web-based publications, without payment or other consideration. I understand and agree that all photos and videos will become the property of MDC and will not be returned. I hereby irrevocably authorize MDC to edit, alter, copy, exhibit, publish, or distribute these photos and videos for any lawful purpose. In addition, I waive any right to inspect or approve the finished product wherein my likeness appears. Additionally, I waive any right to royalties or other compensation arising or related to the use of the photo or video. I hereby hold harmless, release, and forever discharge MDC from all claims, demands, and causes of action which I, my heirs, representatives, executors, administrators, or any other persons acting on my behalf or on behalf of my estate have or may have by reason of this authorization.

 

MDC’s Events Code of Conduct

MDC seeks to provide a welcoming and productive environment for those attending our meetings, workshops, and events. All participants are expected to abide by MDC’s Events Code of Conduct. This Code of Conduct applies to all components of an MDC event, including those sponsored by organizations other than MDC but held in conjunction with MDC events in public or private facilities.

Expected Behavior

  • All attendees, MDC staff, and vendors are treated with respect and consideration, valuing a diversity of views and opinions.
  • Be considerate, respectful, and collaborative.
  • Communicate openly with respect for others, critiquing ideas rather than individuals.
  • Avoid personal attacks directed toward others.
  • Be mindful of your surroundings and of your fellow participants. Alert staff if you notice a dangerous situation or someone in distress.
  • Respect the rules and policies of the meeting venue.


Unacceptable Behavior

  • Verbal comments related to gender, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, religion, national origin
  • Harassment, sexual harassment, bullying, or discrimination in any form
  • Physical or verbal abuse
  • Inappropriate use of images in public spaces or in presentations
  • Threatening or stalking any attendee
  • Disruption of talks during on-site or virtual sessions


Consequences

  • Anyone requested to stop unacceptable behavior is expected to comply immediately.
  • MDC staff (or their designee) or security may take any action deemed necessary and appropriate, including immediate removal from the meeting without warning or refund of associated incurred event fees.
  • MDC reserves the right to prohibit attendance at any future meeting.


Reporting Unacceptable Behavior

  • If you are the subject of unacceptable behavior or have witnessed any such behavior, please immediately notify an MDC staff member or on-site security.
  • Notification can be done by contacting MDC staff on-site or by emailing your concern to Kristen.Jones@membersdevelopment.com.
  • Anyone experiencing or witnessing behavior that constitutes an immediate or serious threat to public safety is advised to contact 911 and/or locate a house phone and ask for security.
